0:57 River Script — Fabiao Li From Liuli China Museum

Calligraphy is the lyrical expression of Chinese characters. While inheriting the visual and symbolic essence of writing, it also embodies rhythm, cadence, and emotion through the fluid movement of the brush.

Inspired by the spirit of calligraphy, this work integrates Sun Guoting’s Treatise on Calligraphy (Shu Pu) from the Tang Dynasty with present day glass fusing techniques. Employing methods such as writing, relief, and melting, 李付彪 allows the essence of traditional calligraphy to be reborn in glass.

Presented in the form of an installation, the artist uses the sharpness of glass to reflect the enduring grace and cultural resonance of a thousand-year old intellectual tradition.
