1:03 Folk Blessings Series — Yu Liu From Liuli China Museum

This series stems from a reinterpretation of China’s folk blessings. Through auspicious motifs such as paired fish, mythical beasts, and fu (happiness) wood charms, these works express the most enduring values; the sincere and steadfast desire for peace, prosperity, and protection in the face of life’s uncertainties.

Throughout the creation process, 刘雨 draws upon traditional visual principles such as symmetry, balance, and the five auspicious colours. Elevating these traditional symbols from two-dimensional designs, the vibrant colours of glass evoke the primal purity of early civilization and the dawn of creation. The result is a renewed vitality, allowing these ancient totemic signs of wisdom to radiate with spatial presence, texture, and the interplay of light.
