1:53 Efflorescence From Liuli China Museum
Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter--tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther.... And one fine morning-- So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
F. Scott Fitzgerald
Translated from French, “Efflorescence” means "to flower out". Bonte places before us, a blooming flower not yet at her peak. He reminds us of beginnings and our own youthful curiosity before we learned to be wary. Like sap springing from a tree, we ran and jumped harder than we do now; the meaning of moderation had not yet entered into our vocabulary. This flower still has the most promising period of her life ahead and infinite possibilities. This really is a psychological test: do you see the future or do you see the past? Do you believe in the green light as Gatsby does? That one day we will run faster and finally collide with that great destiny we so believed in? Or do you recall the age of innocence fondly? Do you long for the time when you had stars in your eyes and butterfly wings on your feet?
All children are born artists;
the problem is how to remain an artist
once we grow up.
Pablo Picasso
