A noted film actor, Loretta H. Yang channeled her creativity into glass art in 1987 and founded LIULIGONGFANG. Her sculptures of transparent liuli and mastery of technique has launched a spiritual and philosophical conversation.
Andrew Brewerton, noted British curator once said: “Loretta Yang has combined the language of glass art with her personal experiences to create a distinctly oriental perspective. This represents the exceptional combination between artistic creation and true life.”
In 1998, Yang became the first Chinese glass artist to show at the Victoria and Albert Museum since its inception in 1857. At the dedication ceremony curator Alan Borg said: “The Victoria and Albert Museum acquires only the best - Ms. Yang’s pâte de verre technique and creative style is mesmerizing. England has added to its collection the work of a master artist from Taiwan. LIULIGONGFANG’s Loretta Yang has revived the legacy of pâte de verre, an artform lost during the Qing Dynasty.”
Yang’s art has been exhibited worldwide and can be found in the collections of internationally renowned institutions.
