For my part I know nothing with any certainty,
but the sight of the stars makes me dream”

Vincent van Gogh

Bonte creates a back to back zodiac allusion with “Bull” and “Gemini”. These two sculptures were created especially for an exhibition at the Capazza Gallery in France entitled, “It is High Time to Rekindle the Stars”. Bonte turns centuries of lore and tradition on its head as he illustrates the twins, Castor and Pollux as female. He purposefully writes women back into the narrative. It’s also interesting to note that the figure of “Taurus” is elegantly postured. Bonte has turned the menacing, charging bull into a dainty creature, worthy of admiration and vanity. We are encouraged to once again marvel at the night sky and to remember what it is to dream. 。
