Exhibition overview
In September 2015, an alliance between eminent contemporary art gallery Galerie Capazza and LIULI CHINA MUSEUM will bring noted French ceramist Christine Fabre to Shanghai. Crossing boundaries of time and material, Eastern aesthetics unite with Western philosophy in a revolutionary symphony that will resound through the contemporary art world. This event follows the solo exhibition of French glass master and Maitre d’Art Antoine Leperlier and FRENCH ART TOUR presented in conjunction with Ateliers d’Art de France.
Thirty years ago, French ceramist Christine Fabre took inspiration from a piece of 13th century Song Dynasty ceramic featuring an ice crack pattern that she saw at the Guimet Museum in Paris. Thus instigated a magnificent expedition. Fabre marries clay, glass and bronze and baptizes the union in fire to create one of a kind objects imbued with emotion and soul. Her work puts on display the vastness of the earth, the strength of life and the faith of the spirit; her ubiquitous use of ancient Egyptian and African motifs further propels the audience into a spiritual realm.
